Knight Luigi Cappellini, Honorary Citizen, and the Historical Studies Center
In 2000, Knight Luigi Cappellini was awarded honorary citizenship by the Municipality of Greve in Chianti.
In 2002, the Cappellini family formally established the Verrazzano Historical Studies Center with the aim of promoting and preserving the memory of the Navigator, thus also honoring the legacy of the late Knight Luigi Cappellini.
The Foundation takes part in the promotion of cultural events, public and private initiatives, conferences, academic and editorial projects, awards, scholarships, and fosters connections with museums, archives, and research centers dedicated to navigation and the discoveries of the New World.
