Leonardo Prize
At the conclusion of the season of celebrations and festivities held in New York for the special anniversary, the Italian Heritage & Culture Committee wished to honor Luigi Giovanni Cappellini, President of the Giovanni da Verrazzano Foundation of Greve in Chianti, with the prestigious “Leonardo da Vinci” award, a special recognition for his work in promoting—also at the international level—the legacy of the Greve-born Navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano. The award was presented to Cappellini directly by Joseph Sciame of the Italian Heritage and Culture Committee of New York, in the presence of the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Fabio Finotti, and the Consul General of Italy in New York, Fabrizio di Michele.
