Giovanni da Verrazzano Florentine Navigator

Author: Comm. P. Bacci, Poligrafici Resto del Carlino, Bologna 1965

A passionate account of Giovanni da Verrazzano’s youthful dream, his cartographic studies with his brother, his early voyages, and the decisive encounter with Francis I of France—who entrusted him with the command of a fleet of four ships with the goal of seeking a new passage across the New World to reach the Orient—and finally his landing on the northeastern coast of what is now the United States.

The volume is dedicated to the inauguration of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York, which took place in 1964.
