The monument dedicated to Giovanni da Verrazzano, inaugurated on October 18, 2008 in Rehoboth Beach, in the U.S. state of Delaware, was sponsored by the Delaware Commission on Italian Heritage and Culture. Luigi Giovanni Cappellini, owner of Castello di Verrazzano and president of the Foundation, donated three stones taken from the oldest part of the Castle, which now form part of the monument’s foundations.

A delegation from Delaware took part in the Verrazzano Day 2010 celebrations, establishing a twinning agreement between Rehoboth Beach and the Municipality of Greve, sealing the historic bond created by the navigator through his explorations of the New World.
